THE COMPANY OVERVIEW:
The T1D Fund is a venture philanthropy fund accelerating life-changing solutions to treat, prevent, and ultimately cure Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). Launched in December 2016, our aim is to attract and deploy capital to advance promising disease-modifying therapies and provide cures for those living with T1D. It’s the first scaled, mission-driven venture philanthropy fund focused on equity investments in partnership with additional sources of capital, including venture capital, corporations, and foundations. By investing in areas strategically aligned with Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF), the leading global T1D research and advocacy organization, and the Helmsley Charitable Trust, the largest foundation funder in the world with a focus on T1D, we can exclusively focus on supporting innovative approaches and novel mechanisms with curative potential. We are a mission-driven organization with a venture capital fund model that continues to support companies that play a role in the discovery and therapeutic development of effective solutions to T1D.
SCOPE:
The T1D Fund is seeking a Sr. Analyst, Industry Engagement Strategy, to help accelerate the fund’s communication strategy within the Type 1 Diabetes community by supporting and expanding the investment team’s existing relationships with private and public investors, pharma, and biotech companies. The organization continues to engage on all these fronts leveraging its unique insight and access from its portfolio companies, Breakthrough T1D, and the Helmsley Charitable Trust. This new expanded role is critical to our mission of accelerating therapeutic innovation in the T1D space through active engagement with key industry players as well as KOLs and fund donors. A successful candidate will work closely with the T1D Fund Leadership Team and use his/her sophisticated analytical and communication skills to synthesize key themes, technologies, and available data and deliver refined supportive materials for internal or external distribution at fund-led industry events.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct market research efforts to understand key trends in the disease indication as well as innovation opportunities in the space. Perform commercial assessment of pre-clinical & clinical biotechnology programs in development including constructing models of the addressable market for potential therapies as well as pricing and reimbursement expectations.
- Work closely with the investment team to track and analyze meaningful clinical, scientific, and regulatory updates across the T1D space, covering various therapeutic approaches and modalities. This includes review of relevant scientific publications, company materials and outreach to KOLs and industry experts.
- Support the organization of fund-led meetings and industry events to facilitate interactions between the fund team and investors, pharma representatives, biotech management teams, community experts, and KOLs. This includes generating supportive meeting materials and research reports, tracking and maintaining relevant relationships, and planning appropriate follow-ups in collaboration with the investment team.
- Provide scientific support to the T1D Fund Leadership team to maintain and promote donor engagement.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong technical and scientific expertise with 3-5 years of experience in life sciences industry (experience in equity research or research consulting is preferred). Advanced degree (PhD, MD, etc.) required.
- Ability to synthesize complex scientific insights and information from various sources into concise and clear narratives to internal and external audiences
- Exceptional analytical, verbal, and written communication skills along with a high level of problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt and thrive in a rapid, high-performance environment.
- Self-directed, independent, and proactive work ethic; dedicated team player with a strong sense of ownership and follow through skills.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
