If you are a natural leader, have a passion for research, and are interested in building a long-term career in the investing world, there’s no better place than Bernstein. We seek candidates who love to solve problems, analyze data, and are passionate about in-depth fundamental analysis. We offer a unique opportunity to become an industry expert as you work alongside a Senior Analyst who is an industry veteran and will mentor and develop you. This role offers a path to more senior roles within Bernstein.

Our Senior Research Associates play an important role in producing the research Bernstein is famous for: unbiased, independent, thematic, collaborative, data-driven, and always differentiated. You will develop relationships across the investing community and become a thought partner to our clients. You will work closely with your team but also have a high degree of autonomy and independence.

As a Senior Research Associate, you will:

  • Become an industry expert working one-on-one with a Senior Analyst who has years of prior industry experience in consulting and management roles
  • Become highly proficient at in-depth analysis of your companies, stocks, and industry themes
  • Author highly differentiated written research that is famous for its deep industry insights and quantitative frameworks, including our signature Blackbook product
  • Become adept at financial forecasting, including building detailed forward-looking models
  • Build strong relationships across the investing community including our sales and trading teams and institutional clients
  • Build a network within the biopharmaceuticals industry including senior managements of your companies
  • Act as team COO and actively manage the franchise’s workflow

We have an outstanding Associate program and make a strong commitment to developing our Senior Research Associate talent. Our culture is intellectually rigorous, but also very collegial and fun. We have robust learning and development programs as well as annual offsite events. We offer a flexible work schedule, but our in-office environment is very active. Our Senior Research Associates are highly involved in (and often lead) our firm’s cultural initiatives, ranging from health & wellness, community service, mentoring, employee resource groups, social events, and Associate leadership.

For our Senior Research Associate roles, we look for evidence of thought leadership, aptitude for the highest level of analytical rigor, and client relationship skills.  We provide an intellectually challenging but supportive environment and look for leaders who are also team players who can collaborate. These are positions with outstanding growth potential, including advancement to senior roles within Bernstein.

We look carefully at your academic background as well as prior work experience for evidence of the following:

  • Organic leadership and an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Best-in-class broad-based analytical skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong quantitative skills and proven ability to work with data sets (STEM undergraduate degrees preferred)
  • Relentless intellectual curiosity – our signature strength

For this role we will give preference to candidates with:

  • Strong finance background and skills, including professional and/or academic backgrounds (e.g., MBA, CFA or CPA)
  • A scientific or healthcare-oriented academic background including research
  • Exposure to the scientific, regulatory and/or commercial dynamics of the pharmaceutical industry

Please submit a cover letter (we read them carefully, as our roles are writing-intensive) and resume via this posting.  We look forward to learning more about you!
