At Dascena, we are applying cutting-edge machine learning techniques in order to help save lives. We have partnered with healthcare providers across the country in order to deploy predictive machine learning technologies that assist clinicians in providing the best care to their patients.

As a Scientific Researcher and Writer at Dascena, you will deeply research a wide range of medical fields and provide context and goals for our dynamic pipeline of algorithm-based medical solutions.  You will create content for publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals, help us in our mission to communicate our scientific research to the broader community, and develop grants and oversee applications for NIH and NSF funding.  You will work closely with our data science team to support our clinical machine learning R&D. You will collaborate on FDA submissions and communications and generate content and documentation for a wide range of activities and presentations.

What you’ll do

(1) The Scientific Writer (Clinician) role will also include the following.

The candidate should be able to assist cross-functional research teams with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience with healthcare data and devices to: understand the clinical context for new machine learning devices; develop clinically relevant machine learning devices; and communicate the research behind machine learning devices to clinicians, healthcare systems and healthcare regulatory bodies in a clinically coherent and compelling fashion.

*Salary: $80,000 - $100,000

 

(2) The Scientific Writer (Medical Informatics) role will include the following. The candidate should be familiar with the history, structure and appropriate use of various medical coding systems; the structure and appropriate use of electronic health record (EHR) datasets for medical research; and available resources to effectively and efficiently leverage healthcare data, including medical codes, to develop state-of-the art machine learning devices.

(3) The Scientific Writer (Biostatistics/Clinical Trial Design) role will also include the following. The candidate should be familiar with methods to control for confounding (e.g. regression methods, propensity score methods, and inverse probability of treatment weighting), be familiar with basic power calculation and sample size determination methods, and be comfortable performing statistical analyses.
