T1D Fund: A Breakthrough T1D Venture, LLC

Boston, MA

Posted August 14

Job Description

Company Description

Launched in 2016 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF), the T1D Fund is the first scaled venture fund established to catalyze the development of T1D cure-oriented therapies through investments. The Fund co-invests with venture capital firms and biopharma companies in support of early-stage companies pursuing disease-modifying therapies and potential cures for T1D. A core element of its mission is to rapidly advance promising therapies through development and, ultimately, regulatory approval. Led by a deeply experienced team of healthcare and investment professionals, working in partnership with an independent Investment Committee, the Fund leverages its vast research, clinical, regulatory, and medical affairs network on behalf of its portfolio companies. Funded through charitable contributions from donors and from Breakthrough T1D itself, the Fund makes investments in biotech companies and reinvests returns into new investments, thereby extending the impact of its donors’ contributions.

Those selected will receive hands-on training and will develop investment theses that align with our mission to accelerate treatments, preventions, and cures.

Compensation

This is a part-time internship beginning in the fall of 2026, and a stipend will be provided. Total compensation for this 15-week program is $40 per hour, with a time commitment of 10-15+ hours per week. This is an anticipated length of program with variability based on mutual alignment. The T1D Fund considers a variety of factors when determining compensation, including professional background and relevant work experience; as a result, actual compensation and length of internship may vary.
