Job Description

Pontiva Healthcare Partners is seeking an Investment Associate to join its New York–based investment team. The Associate will work closely with the Founders across sourcing, diligence, financial analysis, transaction execution, and portfolio support. This role offers significant exposure to the full investment lifecycle and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully within an entrepreneurial environment, as well as growth opportunities.


Responsibilities

•   Conduct scientific, clinical, regulatory, and commercial diligence on prospective investments.

•   Build and maintain financial models, including operating cases, valuation frameworks, scenario analyses, and exit models.

•   Prepare internal investment materials and support drafting of Investment Committee memos.

•   Engage with key opinion leaders, physicians, operators, strategics, and advisors to assess opportunities.

•   Support sourcing efforts, including thematic screens, competitive mapping, and VC portfolio reviews.

•   Analyze market size, reimbursement, adoption curves, and competitive dynamics across multiple subsectors.

•   Participate in company meetings, expert calls, conferences, and industry events.

•   Provide ongoing portfolio support, including tracking milestones, reviewing performance, and assisting with strategic and operating initiatives.

•   Maintain internal research databases, diligence resources, and pipeline tracking tools.

•   Assist with special projects related to strategy, capital formation, and firm development.


Qualifications

•   Bachelor’s degree in life sciences. Advanced degree (MS, MD, PhD, PharmD, MBA) a plus but not required.

•   Experience in investment banking, venture capital, private equity, equity research, consulting, or an operating role within biotech/medtech.

•   Ability to interpret scientific literature and clinical data; familiarity with trial design and regulatory pathways preferred.

•   Strong financial modeling skills; Excel proficiency.

•   Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail

•   Ability to work in a fast-paced, small-team environment with high accountability.

•   Intellectual curiosity, strong work ethic, and desire to learn across therapeutics, devices, diagnostics, and tools.

•   Ability to work from the company’s office in New York City. Periodic travel is required.


Compensation

Cash Compensation will be competitive for the industry along with potential for long-term incentive participation.
