Biotechnology Equity Research Associate

Role Overview

The Equity Research Associate operates as part of a core team of research professionals organized and aligned by industry to provide investment ideas and insights for publicly traded companies within their respective industry domains. The Biotechnology Equity Research Associate will focus on covering and evaluating companies within the life sciences and biopharma sub-sectors. The Associate will support the Senior Analyst in conducting primary research, inclusive of financial analysis and modeling, due diligence on industry trends, company management and strategies, and contributing to industry “deep dive” reports.

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial models for use in analysis, company updates and investment recommendations
• Conduct industry- and company-specific research for use in research reports
• Prepare internal and external reports on specific companies and industries
• Prepare Powerpoint presentations for internal and external purposes
• Build and maintain key relationships with company management and industry contacts
• Perform scientific and clinical research utilizing the scientific literature, physician interviews, and surveys
• Respond to inquiries from clients, investment bankers, sales, capital markets and other capital markets constituents

Education, Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field; advanced technical degree (MD, PhD, MD/PhD or similar) preferred; industry and/or consulting experience a plus
• Strong writing and communication skills required
• Minimum of one year of experience working as an Equity Research professional or in a related capital markets area
• Experience in building financial models and proficiency with accounting and financial statement analysis
• Field of research should be focused on life sciences therapeutics, no healthcare services, tech, etc.
• 0 to 2 years experience is preferred but not mandatory
