Biotech Equity Analyst – Public Long/Short

Principia Global is a Miami-based long/short equity hedge fund focused on healthcare and life sciences opportunities. We invest in therapeutics companies with a focus on scientific and market inefficiencies to identify differentiated investment opportunities. Our team combines deep domain expertise with disciplined financial analysis to generate alpha across market cycles.

We are seeking a driven Biotech Analyst to join our investment team.

The role offers an opportunity to collaborate closely with the CIO of the firm to generate and execute on investment ideas across the therapeutics universe.

The ideal candidate brings an advanced scientific background — MD, PhD, or equivalent — combined with hands-on experience in equity research or life sciences investing. We are looking for someone who can move fluidly between evaluating clinical data and building financial models, and who can thrive on a small team where the focus is on high-conviction investment ideas and building a best in class portfolio of transformative therapies.

Prior experience at a therapeutics focused fund is preferred but not required

The Analyst will work across all aspects of the investment process, including:

•        Conduct rigorous primary research on opportunities, including original scientific analysis of clinical data, trial design, and competitive landscapes.

•        Attend medical conferences (e.g., ASCO, ASH, AHA, JPM) and engage directly with company management, KOLs, and scientific experts to develop proprietary insights.

•        Build and maintain market and financial models across diseases and companies.

•        Synthesize clinical, biological, market, and financial data to form independent, high-conviction investment theses.

•        Quantify market opportunities across disease areas and assess competitive positioning of pipeline assets.

•        Monitor portfolio positions and flag material developments across therapeutic areas and company-specific catalysts.

•        Advanced degree (MD, MD/PhD, or PhD) in a scientific discipline required; clinical training or residency experience a strong plus.

•        2–5 years of experience in equity research (buy-side or sell-side), healthcare-focused private equity, or life sciences consulting.

•        Demonstrated ability to evaluate clinical data independently and form a scientific point of view.

•        Strong financial modeling skills; experience with therapeutic asset valuation (NPV, probability-adjusted models) preferred.

•        Entrepreneurial mindset with a preference for working in a nimble start up environment  

•        Genuine passion for both science and investing.

•        Track record of intellectual curiosity — prior research publications, KOL relationships, or startup involvement are viewed favorably.

•        Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to distill complex science into clear investment arguments.
