Avoro is seeking an Associate, Quantitative Analysis, to join our public company Investment Analysis Team. This role focuses on developing and implementing data science, artificial intelligence (AI), and analytics methodologies to support investment analysis and decision-making. Reporting to a senior investment team member with deep expertise in healthcare investing, the Associate will build systems, tools, and processes using advanced statistical, AI, data analysis, and quantitative modeling techniques to evaluate the biotech market, Avoro’s portfolio, and potential investment opportunities.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Research, develop, and implement sophisticated data methodologies, AI-driven solutions, and analytical tools to support and drive investment research.
- Explore new and alternative quantitative and AI research methodologies while developing a deep understanding of the biotech investment market.
- Collect, clean, and preprocess large volumes of structured and unstructured data from various sources.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and relationships within datasets.
- Develop and implement predictive models using statistical techniques, machine learning, and AI algorithms.
- Manage data analytics projects, contribute to the firm’s data strategy and innovation, and apply advanced analytics and AI to drive the decision-making process.
The Associate, Quantitative Analysis, will be responsible for researching and building tools-including AI-based models-to analyze complex datasets, develop predictive models, and extract valuable insights to inform investment strategy and decision-making. This individual will work closely with the entire investment team to understand business requirements, design and implement analytical and AI-driven solutions, and communicate findings to stakeholders. The position involves collaborating with research leads to perform research, analyze data, and present findings to enable better-informed decisions for the firm.
Desired Technical Qualifications:
- Master’s or Ph.D. in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Economics, or a related discipline.
- 1–2 years of experience as a quantitative research professional, with a track record of delivering successful data-driven solutions.
- Advanced practical training in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Finance/Financial Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong mathematical and statistical modeling skills (e.g., time-series and cross-sectional analysis).
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and/or SQL, with experience using data manipulation, analysis, and AI/machine learning libraries (e.g., pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- In-depth knowledge of statistical techniques and machine learning/AI algorithms (e.g., decision trees, random forests, neural networks).
- Experience with data modeling and visualization tools.
- Demonstrated empirical skills and comfort working with large datasets.

In accordance with Section 8-107(32) as set forth in the New York City Human Rights Law, the minimum and maximum base annual salary for this role is as follows:
Base Salary: $130,000 – $150,000
Actual base salaries may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors. Base salary is just one component of total compensation at Avoro, which may include, depending on eligibility and other job-related factors, year-end incentive compensation.
