TCG Labs, a new fund associated with The Column Group, is focused on rapidly and efficiently translating single asset investment theses into clinical proof-of-concept. To enable this mission, the Fund is fully integrated with Soleil Labs, an R&D hub exclusively operating TCG Labs portfolio companies from discovery to proof-of-concept clinical trials. TCG Labs is looking for a highly self-motivated Associate or Principal to identify and develop value-driving ideas at the Fund. The successful candidate will have a broad understanding of the R&D process and strategic positioning of product profiles in the market. The candidate is expected to independently identify and diligence opportunities, and work with a small investment team to mature concepts to funded portfolio companies. 

Responsibilities:

·      Industry coverage: Work together with the investment team to cover relevant academic journals, conferences, pharmas, and biotechs in order to maintain up-to-date context relevant to ideation and current fund portfolio.

·      New opportunity ideation and sourcing: Leverage human biology observations in academia and industry to develop compelling single asset investment theses. Build and leverage academic and industry networks to source deal opportunities suitable for the Fund’s model.

·      Diligence: Lead deep diligence on potential investment opportunities. Integrate understanding of preclinical and clinical pharmacology, competitive landscape and market strategy, and intellectual property strategy to reach a logical and decisive recommendation.

·      Communicate: Effectively communicate opportunities and diligence to management and investment committees.

Qualifications:

·      M.D. or Ph.D. in biomedical sciences preferred, but not required

·      2+ years relevant experience in asset-focused company creation and/or crossover/public investing

·      Demonstrable track record of leading and collaborating on diligence of investment opportunities

·      A play-to-win mentality: Do whatever it takes to deliver drugs to patients and return value to the Fund, and have fun in the process
