Avoro Capital is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Biotechnology/Healthcare investment analysis Associate with a strong focus on financial modeling. The individual in this role will work as a member of one of the investment analysis groups focused on a therapeutic area or market segment for current and potential public company biotech/healthcare investments. Reporting to a senior investment team member – an experienced healthcare investing expert – the Associate will develop and maintain complex financial models and provide actionable investment recommendations to support portfolio management and strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Apply advanced financial modeling skills to conduct diligence on new investments and ongoing analysis of existing investments.
- Build, maintain, and refine detailed financial models – including three-statement models, DCF, scenario, and sensitivity analyses – to forecast company performance and assess valuation metrics.
- Assess financial statements to evaluate company health, profitability, and risk profile.
- Analyze and utilize financial models and make recommendations.
- Automate and streamline financial modeling processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Communicate complex financial concepts clearly to both financial and non-financial audiences.
The Associate role is demanding but rewarding and is a key position within Avoro’s investment team. This role requires curiosity and passion for the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, drug development, and commercialization. Success in this role requires a combination of healthcare market understanding, analytical abilities, critical and creative thinking, and strong interpersonal skills. The position offers extensive exposure to the investment process, making it ideal for individuals early in their investment careers.
Desired technical qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred).
- 1–3 years of experience in biotech/healthcare analysis (buy side or sell side), investment banking, or consulting, with a focus on financial modeling.
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and Microsoft Excel; experience with VBA or other modeling tools is a plus.
- Basic understanding of fundamental drug development research, preclinical/clinical data, and/or translational medicine.
- Understanding of healthcare finance, drug commercialization and reimbursement, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with financial databases and research tools (e.g., Bloomberg, FactSet) preferred.
- Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret large data sets and extract meaningful insights for decision-making.

In accordance with Section 8-107(32) as set forth in the New York City Human Rights Law, the minimum and maximum base annual salary for this role is as follows:
Base Salary: $125,000 – $150,000
Actual base salaries may vary based on factors including but not limited to education, training, experience, past performance, and other job-related factors. Base salary is just one component of total compensation at Avoro, which may include, depending on eligibility and other job-related factors, year-end incentive compensation.
