The Associate Director of Medical Affairs will focus on Clinical Quality and Patient Safety and will report to our VP of Medical Affairs. You will work closely with Product, Medical Operations, Pharmacy and Data teams to ensure that Ro delivers the safest and highest quality care to our members.

You are an excellent communicator, especially when it involved translating data analysis into an action plan.
We don’t expect you to know everything about medicine or telemedicine, but we do expect you to be ready to dive in and learn. 
As an Associate Director of Medical Affairs, your focus will be on Quality and Safety, but you have the opportunity to work with other teams across the organization on initiatives aside from Quality and Safety. Quality is defined as clinical effectiveness, member safety and member experience, which intersect to produce better healthcare delivery for Ro members. The focus of this position is the quality of care through a safety lens.
Above all, you will be an advocate for delivering the safest patient care.

What You'll Do

    • Work closely with the SVP of Clinical Practice to implement quality and safety initiatives and act on audit findings
    • Work collaboratively to develop, implement and maintain clinical quality metrics, safety metrics and initiatives to improve our EMR and physician platform using Ro’s large data sets
    • Write audit policies that will be used for chart audits to ensure best in class level of safety and quality of care delivered on the platform
    • Build and manage a team that conducts audits and inspections of patient charts to ensure compliance with Ro policies regarding patient safety
    • Oversee the development, collection, and reporting of quality and safety metrics for individual physicians and for the Ro network as a whole
    • Oversee the improvement of side effects documentation and reporting
    • Perform Quality Control audits of patients charts as well as audits based on safety metrics
    • Collaborate with Medical Operations and the Pharmacy on improving patient counseling for potential medication interactions
    • Establish and manage progress towards meeting the goals and objectives of process improvement initiatives
    • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures and provide guidance to various stakeholders on related disciplines
    • Serve as a resource and liaison between the clinical team and the Data, Product, Engineering teams on all things related to quality and safety
    • Establish and oversee a peer-review QA committee and policy for our provider network
    • Serve as a liaison between quality and safety programs and agencies
    • Maintain and acquire new accreditations by key industry bodies
    • Set company strategy for patient safety and quality of care, measure progress and reiterate as necessary

What You Bring to the Team

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to compose reports, including graphs, tables, and slide decks to communicate complex information in an easily understandable way
    • Strong data analytics background in order to use data to set strategy
    • Ability to use data to create a narrative about quality and safety for the organization
    • Deep understanding of quality and safety procedures in a traditional clinical setting (telemedicine is a bonus)
    • Experience and understanding of electronic medical records (EMR)
    • Adept at learning new technology
    • Ability to innovate within existing system
    • Ability to communicate standard provider workflow and patient experience to non-medical stakeholders
    • Ability to work in fast-paced environment

Experience and Education Requirements

    • MD or DO degree or equivalent
    • Board-certified or board eligible if recently completed training
    • Eligible for licensure in all 50 states
    • 5–7 years of work experience
    • At least 3 years of experience in quality and safety
    • At least 3 years of experience in direct patient care
    • At least 2 years of experience managing a team
    • Experience with hospital or medical group quality and safety practices
    • Experience using data to advance healthcare safety and delivery 
    • Adept at learning new technology
    • Thrives in fast paced, high intensity environment
    • Understands the principles of clinical risk management
    • Ability to innovate within existing system
